1st Place Champion (16-18 girls) Red River Jr Golf Tournament

Courtney has been playing golf in the Red River Junior Golf tournaments this summer.  She played in 4 of the 6 tournaments they had scheduled.  She missed one because she was a church camp, and one because I was being "mother" and would not let her go because I thought it was too hot.  The Championship tournament was held yesterday at Paris Golf and Country Club.  The tournament officials keep up with the players scores from all the tournaments.  They average those scores together, along with the score at the championship tournament, to determine the champions.  And I am happy to say that Courtney was the 1st place Champion for the 16-18 year old girls!! While she played her worst game of the season yesterday (she shot a 107 - probably from not touching a club for almost 3 weeks), she still had the best score in her age group, and enough points from the combined tournaments to earn the Championship plaque!!  I'm not sure if she was happier about the plaque, or happier that it was the last tournament of the season.  While Courtney enjoys playing golf, she is not obsessed with it like some, and pretty much likes her sleep more than walking an 18 hole golf course during the hottest part of the day.  If the child would put an ounce of effort into it, she could be an awesome little player.  But she is still pretty good for someone that plays just for fun.

There were only 5 girls that played in the Championship tournament, and one withdrew before the tournament was over yesterday.  At the beginning of the season, there were several more girls who played.
 There were lots of boys

We saw this fellow (Zac Jester) working hard.  He works for the country club during the summer while he is home from college.  They were removing a tree that had been struck by lightening.

Courtney and Trei on Hole 18
Hailey played in the 14-15 year old division, and received the 2nd place plaque.  And Hailey saved her best score ever, a 101, for the last day.  Way to go Hailey!
Courtney with her 1st place plaque, and Trei Haynes (from Pittsburg, OK) finished 2nd
And not long after we got home, I found this up on the mantle above my fireplace....
Way to go Courtney Elizabeth!!  I am SO proud of you!!
