Farewell Raegan

Today, we had a going away party for Raegan (Daugherty) Armstrong.  We ordered pizza and salad from Capizzi's and ate in the conference room for lunch.  Raegan has worked with us ever since she graduated high school 4 years ago.  She is absolutely one of the sweetest girls I know.  We have watched her grow over the last 4 years - from meeting her husband, getting engaged, getting married (last May), graduating college (last December) , and now she has a new job - she will be the Geometry teacher at Chisum High School!!  Way to go Raegan!!  Raegan has been a huge help to me (and Jackie and Kim) at the office, and she will be greatly missed!!  I have never heard her complain once about getting stuff dumped on her.  And  know that some of the things I have given her have not been fun to do.  She has been great to work with and I know she will make an EXCELLENT teacher!

I made her a cake using Chisum school colors and geometry shapes (which I will admit I had to google some of them)

Good Luck Mrs. Armstrong!!  I hope you have a wonderful first year of school!!  And I hope you will head over to Prairiland to teach before too long :)

SYS - Talco

Monday night, the Summer Youth Series was held in Talco.  We had another good turn out from Blossom -  I counted 31.  There were a little over 200 total in attendance.  We were served pizza and cookies afterwards.  The topic was "The Cross, The Work of Redemption."  Another great lesson!

Carysn, Cameron, Hannah, Grace & Paul
Chuck & Earl.  Lenita is on an Alaskan cruise, so this very well could be the best meal Earl has had all week!

Michael, Cody, Kelli, Keith & Leann
 Michael & Avery
 Benton, Butler, Lanny & Amy
 I loved Benton's little outfit

And last, but not least, the 3 musketeers:
Hailey, Courtney and Erin
Next week SYS will be at Oak Grove.  I am not for sure where that is at, but I think around the Mt. Pleasant area.  I know it will be another great lesson!  This summer seems to have flown by.  Just 3 more SYS left.

Frisco Roughriders

This past Friday, a group from our church traveled to Frisco, to watch the Roughriders play.  The Frisco Roughriders are the Double-A Affiliate of the Texas Rangers.  We have been doing this for several years now and I always look forward to it.  It is a very family friendly atmosphere, and the staff interacts with the crowd quite a bit, which makes it more fun..
Hailey, Courtney and Bryce
Hannah and Taylor Jo acting silly
Deanna is working in Dallas this summer doing an internship, so she drove over to the game and met us.
 Autumn and Tiffany
Our group filled up two and a half rows.  We had 32 go this year.  We missed the Backus and Adams families, but they had already planned their vacation to the Carolina's.  And the Turners couldn't make it because they were moving.
We all received free caps with our tickets
Lezlie and Justin trying to catch free t-shirts.  They didn't catch one, but Chuck did.
Butler had a good time!
 Arlo and Vivan
 Michael and Kelli
 Roughriders WIN!
There was a really nice fireworks show after the game
  Cody and Benton
The weather really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.  We had great seats in the shade, and there was a cool breeze.  I think everyone had a great time!

SYS - Atlanta & Fulbright

Two weeks ago, we went to the Summer Youth Series in Atlanta, TX.  It is the one that is the farthest drive for us - it took about 1 hour and 45 minutes to get there.  We only had 8 go, as a lot of the younger kids and some adults were gone to church camp.  The topic was "Church Discipline" and it was a great sermon!
Kelli, Courtney, Bryce, Lanny & Butler
Bryce & Court
Michael & Butler
Last night, the Fulbright church was the host for the Summer Youth Series.  The topic was "I Was Sick and You Visited Me."  We had all of our church campers home and we had 32 attend from Blossom!!!  I think that may be the most ever we have taken?  So, I have lots of pictures.
Rod and sweet little Avery.  We think she is SO PRECIOUS!
 And so does everyone else
 Court, Hailey, Kelli & Hannah

Another great summer youth series in the bag :)

1st Place Champion (16-18 girls) Red River Jr Golf Tournament

Courtney has been playing golf in the Red River Junior Golf tournaments this summer.  She played in 4 of the 6 tournaments they had scheduled.  She missed one because she was a church camp, and one because I was being "mother" and would not let her go because I thought it was too hot.  The Championship tournament was held yesterday at Paris Golf and Country Club.  The tournament officials keep up with the players scores from all the tournaments.  They average those scores together, along with the score at the championship tournament, to determine the champions.  And I am happy to say that Courtney was the 1st place Champion for the 16-18 year old girls!! While she played her worst game of the season yesterday (she shot a 107 - probably from not touching a club for almost 3 weeks), she still had the best score in her age group, and enough points from the combined tournaments to earn the Championship plaque!!  I'm not sure if she was happier about the plaque, or happier that it was the last tournament of the season.  While Courtney enjoys playing golf, she is not obsessed with it like some, and pretty much likes her sleep more than walking an 18 hole golf course during the hottest part of the day.  If the child would put an ounce of effort into it, she could be an awesome little player.  But she is still pretty good for someone that plays just for fun.

There were only 5 girls that played in the Championship tournament, and one withdrew before the tournament was over yesterday.  At the beginning of the season, there were several more girls who played.
 There were lots of boys

We saw this fellow (Zac Jester) working hard.  He works for the country club during the summer while he is home from college.  They were removing a tree that had been struck by lightening.

Courtney and Trei on Hole 18
Hailey played in the 14-15 year old division, and received the 2nd place plaque.  And Hailey saved her best score ever, a 101, for the last day.  Way to go Hailey!
Courtney with her 1st place plaque, and Trei Haynes (from Pittsburg, OK) finished 2nd
And not long after we got home, I found this up on the mantle above my fireplace....
Way to go Courtney Elizabeth!!  I am SO proud of you!!
