San Antonio

In May, we took a long weekend to go visit Cody and watch him graduate.  We left on Wednesday afternoon and drove down.  We got all checked into our hotel room (just a block off of the Riverwalk), and then headed to the airport to pick up Rod's mother, Lana, who flew in from Kansas.

Here are us girls patiently awaiting to see Cody on Thursday morning.
We finally saw Cody and got to hug him.  He was doing great!  Due to security reasons, I have to be really careful of what I post, so I will not be posting many pics or much about our visit with him.  But I will say we are extremely proud of him!   We were able to eat lunch with Cody and spend some time with him before heading back to our hotel.  I think he and Avery were glad to see each other!

Thursday afternoon we headed over to the Riverwalk to spend the afternoon.   Avery loves her Nana Lana!
Thursday night these two flew down.  It just so happened that they were on the same flight from Dallas to San Antonio.  It was much cheaper for Michael to fly from Memphis to Dallas to catch a connecting flight than it was for him to fly straight to San Antonio.  Courtney had semester finals on Thursday, so she was not able to make the drive down with us.  She got a fairly cheap one way ticket to San Antonio and booked the same flight that Michael would be on.  They sent me this picture from Dallas after they met up.
This little girl was happy to see her long lost brother and sister!
Friday morning was graduation time!  It was raining so the graduation could not take place outside as it normally is...it had to be split up by the different groups and held at the dorm.  We had to hang out for a couple of hours waiting for Cody's group.
Then we caught a bus to take us over for the ceremony
After we left Cody, we headed to the historic Market Square.  We ate some great Mexican food and enjoyed the afternoon walking around the market shops.
And of course we had to take a little cruise on the Riverwalk boats
And a late night stroll by the Alamo

Saturday we headed to Sea World for the day.  We have taken our kids to Sea World several times over the years, and we always get this picture.  They weren't quite as willing to pose this time as they were in years past.  But they did. And they even smiled.
The innocence of a child melts my heart...

Sunday we got up extra early for 7:30 am church service with Cody!
Then we headed back to our hotel to get checked out and spend the rest of the day on the Riverwalk.

We dropped Michael off at the airport around 5pm before beginning our drive home.
It was a wonderful weekend getting to see Cody and spend time with all our kids and with Lana!

Ladies Day 2015

Seasons of Life was the theme for our 10th Annual Ladies Day. Lisa Hendrix from Mount Pleasant was our speaker and did an outstanding job.  I always look forward to our Ladies Day each year as I know many others do as well.

Sallie Fendley and Alice Anderson did an outstanding job with the decorations in the auditorium.  They are very talented women!
Our decorations for our lunch was a summery picnic type theme.  We found the idea on Pinterest and copied it.  It turned out so cute!
The favors for the ladies were seasonings of course
Lunch was cute little boxed sandwiches that included a sandwich, chips, pickle and fruit cup.  Desserts were lemon, strawberry and banana caramel pies.
Amy and Becky welcomed each lady at the registration table
Vivian and Donna hard at work

 My people

I don't remember the exact number, but we had a good turn out.  A big thank you to everyone who made this year another successful year!

Lads to Leaders 2015

Lads to Leaders 2015 was a great time! The convention was held Easter weekend at the Gaylord Texan. The number of participants has increased each year since we have started attending four years ago. Our church kids competed in many different events and the all did great!  So very proud of them all!

That is an Easter bunny behind Avery.  I just love all the little details that the Gaylord has.
 Matchy matchy...which was not planned.
These guys tired out pretty fast on the first night.

We went to watch Benton and Butler present their speeches on Saturday morning.  They did awesome!
Avery was going to lead a song in the girl song leading that afternoon, but we didn't plan her nap accordingly, and she fell asleep waiting her turn and there was no waking her up.  Hopefully next year we will be better prepared.

A little trip to the Grapevine Mills mall during our free time

First trip to Build a Bear.  She named her bear Lilly after our next door neighbor who she adores!

Road trip for ice cream Saturday night.  Hanging out with everyone is the funnest part of the trip!
The Easter bunny left a suprise on the balcony of our room.  This was one excited little girl!
 Happy Easter!
Avery kept photo bombing the Mathews family pictures.  She does not realize she is not a part of their family.

I am so honored to be a part of the Blossom congregation and the works that we do!  We truly have a great church family!
