We planned a trip to Gulf Shores, but due to new jobs and crazy schedules, it ended with only Michael, Avery and myself getting to go. While we terribly missed everyone else, we tried not to let that spoil our fun.
We started out on a Monday night and drove to Lafayette.
We decided to take a detour thru New Orleans on our way since Michael had never been. We spent the morning in the French Quarter, ate some beignets, strolled around Jackson Court, and walked around the French Market and bought some praline's to take to Gulf Shores with us.

Michael had posted a picture on Instagram, and one of his friends, Chris, that he graduated with saw it. Chris and his wife live in New Orleans, and Chris is over the reptiles and petting zoo at the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans. Chris said that if we wanted to come to the zoo, he would get us in free and give us a behind the scenes tour. So we took advantage of his offer and had a really amazing time. It was very interesting to see how the zoo works behind the scenes. My phone died about half way thru our visit, so I didn't get many pictures of the cool things we saw. My favorite part was the sea lions! They were so funny and reminded me of little kids playing around!
Tuesday evening we finally arrived at our condo!
Nothing like a good bowl of Froot Loops to get the day started!
This was our "office" for a few days. I could really get used to that!
We went on a dolphin cruise. I took several pictures but they didn't turn out. But the best dolphin sighting was the next morning morning while we were swimming off the beach. They were fairly close to where we in the water.
Did a little crab hunting. Michael found a HUGE one that made me ready to go back to our condo.
Another day of fun
When we got tired of the sand, we headed to the pool.
Michael went parasailing one afternoon and Avery and I went along to watch. Avery was wanting to parasail too, but I told her she had to wait until she was much much bigger.

And then time came to load up and come back home. The condo had shopping carts to help load and unload your belongings. They may look redneck, but they were super handy when it came time to pack up!
And this is pretty much how we all felt about leaving...
We stopped in West Monroe on the way home to see the Duck Commander headquarters. It was after hours so they were closed and we didn't get to see anyone.
We were an about 60 miles from home in this picture and this little girl was so tired she was being very silly!
It was a great trip and I am ready to go back...hopefully ALL of my family will get to go next time!
