Family Dinner

A while back, my sister-in-law, Becky, and I were talking that we don't see each other enough. We all live right here in the Paris area, but seem to stay so busy, that we rarely see each other - unless it is one of the kids birthdays or a holiday or something. So...we thought it would be a good idea to get together at least once a month to eat, visit and catch up - and to start putting together family cookbooks of all our favorite dishes. We were going to start this in January, but here it is March and we just now had our first "monthly" family meal. We are going to take turns hosting it at each others house. We did it at my house this month, and had an Irish theme since it was right around St. Patricks day.
My family

We really wanted my MawMaw to come, but she is still in the Skilled Nursing Facility on the South campus. Here is a picture of her with Michael and my step-dad the day of my mom's surgery last week. My brother went up to the 7th floor and brought her down to my mom's room. Hopefully she can come to the next one. She is suppose to be discharged next week.

Our menu was salad, armadillo eggs (not sure why brother thought this was an Irish dish), Shepherd's Pie, Cabbage Roll Casserole, soda bread, Irish Creme Cake and Shamrock Pie.

Rod couldn't take his eyes off the TV watching college basketball. I do believe my bracket is beating his :)
Michael and my brother - Rodney
My super cool nephew - Seth
Becky is happy to be doing the dishes :)
And Vickie....why doesn't Court smile like this when she does the dishes? Oh wait - she doesn't do them so I wouldn't know!
After dinner we filled out our recipe cards. And bought some raffle tickets from my nephew.
It was a great day of family fun! Next time will be at Rodney and Becky's house. Can't wait :)
