Fall Retreat at Pegasus Ranch

Planning the fall retreat this year kind of snuck up on us.  Around the middle of August, it dawned on me that we better get something booked in order to have the retreat the first weekend of October like we have done the past several years.  The cabin we have booked in Broken Bow for a couple of years was not available that weekend or or any weekend for the rest of the year.  Brookhaven Retreat that we stayed at last year only had openings in December.  I was starting to panic that we may not find a big enough cabin that was within a couple of hours drive. Little did I know at the time that I was about to stumble upon a little place called Pegasus Ranch.  After looking at all the pictures and reading about the amenities, I knew it was the place for us.  And it did not disappoint.  It was absolutely the PERFECT place for our group.  I don't think we could have asked for anything better.  The only thing that would have made it better is if the mosquito's would have left us alone.  They were pretty bad, but nothing a little insect repellent couldn't handle.

I can't tell you how much I look forward to this trip each year.  Words can not even begin to do justice to begin to describe what a wonderful experience it is to spend the weekend away from the world with like minded individuals, whom may not be blood kin, but who are your family,  And who all have the same goals - to love and serve God and make it to Heaven to spend eternity.

The 5 bedroom Lodge
The 4 bedroom Bunkhouse
This place had it all!  Everything you could possibly need.  And the fall decorations were absolutely beautiful!  The owners have done an amazing job making this place the perfect getaway for families!
They had the cutest little play house that was quite a hit with the little girls
There was an awesome game room that was fully equipped with drums (we may or may not have hidden the drum sticks several times), pool table, air hockey, foosball, arcade games, board games, darts, and many more things.  I didn't get a picture of the upstairs play room, but it was a kids paradise!  It had all sorts of toys, chalk board, games, TV with movies, video games, etc.

I spent part of the day following these two little people around.  They are pretty fun.  There was a covered pavilion with all sorts of outdoor games.
It was hard to get the kids to slow down long enough to eat, but we managed to corral them for a few minutes...
These two ladies helped make the kitchen run smoothly
Two of my favorite people
The weather was perfect!  Not too hot and not to cold.  Lots of time was spent down by the pond.  There was a paddle boat, a jon boat, kayaks and a tube.
Pumpkin painting
A serious game of ping pong going on here

Lots of fun fishing
Volleyball for everyone

Power napping

Lots of relaxing and visiting

Sunday morning we had a worship service and then packed up to head home

What a great weekend!

Oak Ridge Boys

The Oak Ridge Boys recently came to Grant, Oklahoma and I just happened to get us FRONT row tickets!  That might not be very exciting for some but the Oak Ridge Boys just happened to be one of my favorite bands, along with Alabama, when I was a young girl.  I remember putting their cassette tape in my jam box and roller skating in our drive way to all their songs.  Oh the good ole days.  Several people, including my husband, were making fun of me for being so excited to see a group of 70 year olds get on stage and sing. But it was AWESOME!  I was probably one of the youngest ones in attendance, and everyone sitting around me was drinking coffee, but I bet I could sing along better than anybody else that was there.

Date Night
These Oak Ridge Boys have been together for 40 years, or since I was a one year old.
Duane Allen is from Cunningham, TX and just happens to be my mom's first cousin

They may be getting older but the boys can still sing!  What a fun night out with my husband!

A Shower for Paisley Mae

Last night I gave a shower at my house, with the help of Neta, for our friend and co-worker Jenny.  This was her very first baby shower Paisley Mae.  It was so much fun to plan but it was even more fun to see how excited Jenny was about it.  Everyone from the office attended with the exception of Dani, who had family in town from Florida.  Jenny received so many nice things for Paisley, who will be one loved and spoiled little girl.  Just eight short weeks before we all get to meet her...

I found Courtney's very first Easter dress, so I used it as part of the decorations.
I wish I would have taken a picture after all the food was set out, but I forgot too...
The banner was a combined effort between me and Vicky, who has a fancy little machine to make the cut outs.  That just might have to be on my Christmas list this year.
How cute are these diaper babies made out of a baby sock and a washcloth!
Jenny has the cutest little belly and she is ALL belly!  I wish I would have got a side shot of her.
Jackie was the baby whisperer
Neta was in charge of games and did a pretty awesome job. The first game involved looking for items in your purse.  And our lady of the hour won the game!  She had the most points at the end of the game.
The second game was pretty funny.  Everyone got a paper plate and a marker.  They then had 60 seconds to place the plate on their head and draw a baby.  There were some pretty interesting looking babies!
Jenny then judged the drawings and picked out the best one, which happened to be her mom's drawing.
And speaking of babies, our little party wore these two out!

Then it was time for Jenny to open all of Paisley's presents
All of us at the office went in together and got her a stroller/car seat combo that she had on her registry at Babies R Us.  She was so excited and happy to get it!
Jenny is going to be an awesome mom no doubt!

Party, Party and another Party

Seems like every other day this past couple of weeks somebody was having a birthday...so we have being celebrating a lot.

Sophie turned 6 years old and had a swimming party.  It was a great way (for Avery) to cool down after a full afternoon playing at the Reach Rally.  Sophie had a super fun party and my curly headed friend did not want to leave.

Don gave Avery a little lift to hit the pinata

Little Jack had his 4th birthday party on Sunday.  Jack is one of the funniest little guys I know!
 The birthday boy!

Any Avery's Memaw turned 50 this week!  So we had to show her some birthday love and decorate her office.  She got her own diaper (Depends) cake.

Reach Rally 2013

A couple of weeks ago, Avery and I attended the Reach Rally as part of the Autumn's Army team in support of our little best friend Autumn Faith Phillips.  Normally, this event takes place in October, but it was moved up to September this year and it was HOT!  But that didn't stop anybody from having a good time.
Autumn won 3rd place for Fundraising and received a trophy which she was very proud of.  Go Autumn!
And as always, they had many fun activities for all the little ones to do

Fish Fry at the Unruhs

The Unruh's had their annual fish fry Sunday evening after church services.  It is one of my favorite times of the year!  They had both a bounce house and an inflatable slide for the kiddo's this year.  And of course they were a hit!

Patiently waiting for Earl to do his magic...
Good food, good friends, good fellowship!  It doesn't get much better than that!

Moving on up...

I am teaching the 2 year old Sunday school class this quarter.  And this past Sunday was a big day for Avery, Cooper and Jacob.  They moved up from the baby class to the 2 year old class.  Eli was in class with us too, but he will be moving up to the 3/4 year old class.  This has been a day that Avery has been looking forward to for a while.  For the last several months she has ran into this classroom on Sunday mornings and tried to stay in there when it was time for class to start.
I'm not sure about Jacob or Eli, but it was Avery and Cooper's first time to play with play doh and they loved it.  Our story was about Jonah and the whale.  They had fun making Jonah and the whale out of their play doh.
 Story time...
Goldfish was the perfect snack to go with our story
I am looking forward to a fun 3 months teaching these little souls!
