SYS and a little Insanity

Summer Youth Series has begun!  We missed the first one due to it being our VBS week.  So last Monday we traveled to our first SYS of the summer in the big town of Fulbright.  We heard a message on "the strength of personal conviction."    While the topics are aimed towards the youth, they are messages that we all need to hear.  Our congregation had 31 in attendance, which I thought was pretty amazing.

 Rod and Lanny

After we arrived back in Blossom, some of us headed to the gym to work out.  Lanny and Michael began doing the Insanity work-out a couple of weeks ago.  And I know why it is called Insanity - you have to be insane to do it!  Seriously!  I do a very modified version of the work-out.  That is why I am still alive today.  I am pretty sure if I did every move that Shaun T. did, I would not be alive to type this blog.

Avery LOVED Butler and Benton's plasma cars!
 Courtney and Hailey
Even Kelli and Michael enjoyed the plasma cars.  And to be honest, I really wanted to ride one too!
Tuesday night, we went and worked out again.  Avery dressed for the occasion this time.
And Benton brought his motorcycle that he just learned to ride!  It may look like a bicycle, but it is really a motorcycle.  Just ask Benton.

Tonight the SYS was in Atlanta, TX.  And since neither Courtney or Rod got off work until 6pm, there was no way we could have made it on time.  Michael rode in the church van which left at 5pm.  Can't wait until he gets home to hear about it!

Phillips Hamburger Cook-Out 2012

Ben and Tiffany had their annual hamburger cook-out on the 15th.  We always look forward to this each year!  It was a fun night of good food, fun and fellowship.

Can you tell they have small children?

Thank you Ben & Tiffany!

VBS 2012

Our church had Vacation Bible School a couple of weeks ago.  Unfortunately, I only was able to attend on Sunday morning and Sunday evening before I came down with a nasty case of bronchitis.  And from what I hear, it was a very successful VBS!  Our theme was "The Treasure of the Forgotten Island" and it focused on the book of Proverbs.

I was able to snap a few pictures before my sickness set in.
Sunday morning
 Jacob
Becky does a great job teaching the babies!  I love this picture of Jacob and Avery looking up at her.
 Sunday night

 Ms. Laila - so ADORABLE!
 Ms. Avery
 Mr. Cooper
 Mr. Jacob
Charles transformed into a Pirate.  He is so funny and does such a good job portraying his character each year.
 Snack time!
Courtney took the following pictures on Wednesday night
I hated that I wasn't able to go the last 3 nights, but I know that everyone who did benefited from it!

Happy 20th Birthday Michael Blake!!

Last Saturday (June 9th) my little blue eyed boy turned 20 years old!!  How is that possible??  It seems like it was just yesterday when I went to the hospital on a Tuesday afternoon around 4pm, and then just a short 5 hours later, at 8:52 pm, delivered the most precious little red headed 8 lb 10 oz, 21 in long baby boy who changed my life forever.  And now he is a junior in college.  Wow, they really do grow up WAY to fast.

This is not a very good picture - but Michael with his cake.
I always cook the kids one of their favorite meals on their birthday.  I asked Michael what he wanted and he said to just surprise him.  He loves seafood - any and all of it.  So I tried a new shrimp scampi recipe (from Pinterest of course) which was AWESOME.
  and twenty years ago....
 Nice hair!

Happy Birthday Michael Blake Womack!  I am so proud of the young man you have become.  I am honored and blessed to be your mother.  I love you!
