Saturday afternoon was the Retreat Olympics. We divided the teams just as we did last year - kids, women, men, and grandparents. I was so thankful that Scott was willing to be the leader of all the games. He did an excellent job!
The first game we played, was drawing a picture. Each team picked someone to be their captain. Scott told the captain, and captain only what the picture was to be. The captain had 10 seconds to start drawing before it was the next person's turn. The captain could not give any hints as to what the drawing was suppose to be. The next person had to go by what the captain and the person before them started.

The next game was finding safety pins in a bowl of rice, while blindfolded. A lot easier said than done. We couldn't find the goggles we had brought, so we had to use pillowcases as blind folds.
Joyce had a question while Scott was telling about the next game. And Lenita was telling Scott how to tell us to play the game. Love you Lenita!

The next game was to throw a ball through the hula hoop
Probably the hardest game, was kicking a ball around a Frisbee and back. The wind was blowing, so it made it quite difficult.
There may have been a little cheating - by all teams. We were not suppose to touch with our hands.
The funniest game was putting your head on a bat, and spinning around twice. It was going to be 10 times, but Scott took it easy on us and changed it to twice. I am glad!
Then we had a race transferring cotton balls from one pan to another with a spoon.
And the final game was the egg toss. Courtney and Hailey were the champions of that this year.
After the Olympics, we all gathered inside for some singing and a devotional. Lanny did a great job!

Paul didn't have quite as much energy as he did at 7am. All the kids had been playing hard.
This picture is out of order - but I thought it was too cute. Since Avery slept through her pumpkin painting, she needed a picture with hers when she woke up.
This is most of the crew that went to the retreat. Minus Dorris and Teresa who left earlier in the afternoon. And minus Rod who was downstairs in bed, not feeling good.
After supper, we left sleeping Rod in bed, and drove a few miles down the road to race go carts. Turns out we have some pretty competitive folks in our congregation! Courtney happened to get the fast car on her solo round, and was quite pleased that she "lapped" everyone on the track.

When we got back to the cabin from racing go carts, Rod was on his death bed. He had been up the whole time throwing up. I was going to pack up and take him home, but Evan said he would - since he had to be back in Blossom on Sunday morning to preach anyway. Evan and Rod had been gone maybe 45 minutes, and then Erin got sick. So Melanie packed up most of their things and headed back to Blossom. A couple of hours later, I was awoke to the sounds of somebody upstairs throwing up, and they sounded awfully sick! I finally figured out it was coming from John Henry and Sandra's room. And when I got up early the next morning to check on them, it was Sandra. And then Ben came out of their bedroom and said baby Jack had thrown up around 4am too. What??!! So that was 4 in our cabin that was sick. Then Chuck and Mandy came over from their cabin, and told us that Melanie Backus as well as Ethan and Evan Adams were sick in their cabin. And Britney was sick by the time we left. And Kenny was feeling to good. It was CRAZY! I have never seen anything like it. And then by the time it was all over, many more got sick: Ben, Tiffany, Mel Butler and Ryan, Lanny, Mark, Scott, Dorris and Teresa. We at first thought it was a virus, but Sandra ended up going to the doctor on Monday. He said for that many people to get sick that fast, it had to be food poisoning. So we are blaming the hamburgers on Friday night.

I have circled the actual "survivors." Those not circled ended up getting sick after we left. Becky, Joyce, Lenita, Paul and Grace left Saturday night - and they are survivors so far! Six of the above survivors did not eat hamburgers on Friday night. And of all the ones who did eat hamburgers, only 12 did not get sick.
What a wild and crazy weekend! It started out great, but then by Saturday evening it started getting crazy! Ben said it was like a scary movie, just walking around wondering who was going to be the next victim.
I absolutely love our Retreat weekend, and hope no one will be too scared to go back! This will certainly be one to remember!
