San Antonio

In May, we took a long weekend to go visit Cody and watch him graduate.  We left on Wednesday afternoon and drove down.  We got all checked into our hotel room (just a block off of the Riverwalk), and then headed to the airport to pick up Rod's mother, Lana, who flew in from Kansas.

Here are us girls patiently awaiting to see Cody on Thursday morning.
We finally saw Cody and got to hug him.  He was doing great!  Due to security reasons, I have to be really careful of what I post, so I will not be posting many pics or much about our visit with him.  But I will say we are extremely proud of him!   We were able to eat lunch with Cody and spend some time with him before heading back to our hotel.  I think he and Avery were glad to see each other!

Thursday afternoon we headed over to the Riverwalk to spend the afternoon.   Avery loves her Nana Lana!
Thursday night these two flew down.  It just so happened that they were on the same flight from Dallas to San Antonio.  It was much cheaper for Michael to fly from Memphis to Dallas to catch a connecting flight than it was for him to fly straight to San Antonio.  Courtney had semester finals on Thursday, so she was not able to make the drive down with us.  She got a fairly cheap one way ticket to San Antonio and booked the same flight that Michael would be on.  They sent me this picture from Dallas after they met up.
This little girl was happy to see her long lost brother and sister!
Friday morning was graduation time!  It was raining so the graduation could not take place outside as it normally is...it had to be split up by the different groups and held at the dorm.  We had to hang out for a couple of hours waiting for Cody's group.
Then we caught a bus to take us over for the ceremony
After we left Cody, we headed to the historic Market Square.  We ate some great Mexican food and enjoyed the afternoon walking around the market shops.
And of course we had to take a little cruise on the Riverwalk boats
And a late night stroll by the Alamo

Saturday we headed to Sea World for the day.  We have taken our kids to Sea World several times over the years, and we always get this picture.  They weren't quite as willing to pose this time as they were in years past.  But they did. And they even smiled.
The innocence of a child melts my heart...

Sunday we got up extra early for 7:30 am church service with Cody!
Then we headed back to our hotel to get checked out and spend the rest of the day on the Riverwalk.

We dropped Michael off at the airport around 5pm before beginning our drive home.
It was a wonderful weekend getting to see Cody and spend time with all our kids and with Lana!
